Introducing our new project… amplified@rw

We’re offering unsigned and grassroots artists from across the South West the chance to record their EP in our studios, fully funded, thanks to Arts Council England and Real World.

4-6 acts will spend 3-4 days with our in-house engineers across the Big Room, Wood Room and Red Room, recording an EP of their own songs, fully mixed and mastered by Real World engineers. They’ll also get mentoring from industry professionals on publishing, rights and release strategy, and the chance to perform live to an audience of record labels and A&R at an exclusive showcase at Real World.

No polished demo needed to apply – a voice note, a phone video, whatever shows us who you are.

If you’re based in the South West, unsigned, and ready to make something special, we want to hear from you. Applications close at 11:59pm on 9th September.

Today Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ is officially out in IMAX and cinemas across the world, featuring a breathtaking score by @ludwiggoransson recorded at Real World Studios.

From playing the railings of the Big Room diffusion wall and collecting unused air-conditioning pipes around site to hit with mallets, to placing our binaural head in front of gongs and waterfalls and exploring the realms of the @somasynths Pipe, Ludwig began crafting the score in the Big Room this time last year with @middletonoliver and @soundslikemaisy before anything had even been shot for the film.

Returning again earlier this year to work across all of our studio spaces with @bobmackenzie_ and @soundslikemaisy we recorded all of the Aulos by @callum.armstrong.piping and the Lyre by @rosa.fragorapti along with the Wood Room filled with percussion.

We are honoured to have supported Ludwig in his vision towards this groundbreaking score. Ludwig’s intuitive, inventive and ingenious nature always brought an undeniable buzz to Real World, and we always look forward to welcoming him back. Thank you to @mikeknobloch for these wonderful behind the scenes photos from Ludwig’s first session with us.

We’re ever so proud of our resident studio queen, @soundslikemaisy, who looked like an absolute star at the world premiere of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey last Monday!

Her invitation was a well-deserved result of her brilliant work assisting @bobmackenzie_ and @middletonoliver during the recording of @ludwiggoransson’s incredible score here at Real World last year.

Booking procedure

When you confirm by email that you’d like to join the Real World Recalls program, Lisa, our Studio Coordinator, will ask you for your billing details if you haven’t already supplied them, and will send out an invoice.

We ask for a 50% deposit to confirm your place on the residency. The remainder payable a month before the residency commences.

All extras such as taxis and bar tab will be invoiced promptly after the conclusion of the event.

Cancellation Policy

Longer than 6 weeks prior to start date: full 100% refund or deferment to future Recalls program

Between 6 weeks and 3 weeks prior to: 50% refundable

Between 3 weeks and a week prior to start: 25% refundable

Less than 1 week prior to start: non-refundable

(% refers to full Real World Recalls cost)
